Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. Matthew 7:24-25 KJV
It is impossible to build a solid structure upon the sand. In the same way, it is impossible to be in harmony with God if the foundation of that relationship is not sustained by His Word.
Unfortunately, the era in which we live is marked by a profound mysticism. Even within churches that apparently preach Biblical truths, many times what moves their members is not the explicit Word of God contained in the Bible, but rather their feelings, fulfilling what was said in the book of Isaiah: "I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts."
And to add greater evil, many believers have generated a mystical relationship between themselves and their own consciences, and they call the latter the "Voice of God" or the voice of the "Holy Spirit," not understanding what they say.
The Bible should be the standard measure by which every Christian should govern their life. The Law of God and His Testimonies are immutable and have been preserved from the greatest persecutions for a clear reason: this constitutes the will of God. Any professed believer who says they follow the will of God and does not act according to His Word deceives themselves.
The Apostle Paul warned well when announcing in his first letter to Timothy: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils."
It is not false that God can deal with His servants and give them instruction. It is not false that the Holy Spirit can inspire the believer and guide them in a certain course. However, if the direction we follow and the instruction we practice do not glorify God and lead new souls to the Biblical faith, but instead exalt the believer as if they were a "chosen one" or a new "apostle"—gaining them the sympathy and admiration of men—then the spirit and the instruction received do not come from heaven, but from demons.
There are many pastors who exalt themselves and distance themselves from their fellow servants, establishing a hierarchy in which they not only lord it over the sheep, but also induce them into a certain type of idolatry. It is not strange to hear arguments from pastors such as: "whoever questions God's anointed (referring to themselves) questions God Himself."
Many of these false teachers take examples from the Old Testament which, by the way, they take out of context just to justify their questionable demands and attitudes, and they equate themselves with people like David or another of the prophets; and only the unwary, those who do not search their Bibles (of whom there are many), follow them blindly and say amen to whatever blasphemy comes out of their mouths.
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20
This verse should serve as a guide to every professed Christian. Let us forget what man says, let us forget Christian representations in the entertainment world, and let us go to the real source, the true foundation that makes every man and woman a true servant of Jesus Christ: the Bible and the Bible alone.
